About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Software Development to join our team at Jobs for Humanity. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading the development of our cloud-based financial platform, driving technical decisions, and mentoring a team of software engineers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, cloud platforms, and fintech, with a proven track record of leading engineering teams and delivering impactful results. You will be responsible for investing in brilliance, growing leaders, and influencing technical decisions, while ensuring the quality and reliability of our platform.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of our cloud-based financial platform, driving technical decisions and mentoring a team of software engineers.
  • Invest in brilliance, growing leaders and influencing technical decisions, while ensuring the quality and reliability of our platform.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to bring ideas to life, driving software quality, implementing observability, and complying with best practices for builds and deployment.
  • Manage a team of 10 to 40 software engineers and technical leads, unblocking maximum productivity for them, and growing their careers to the next level.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's in CS or equivalent education, and a total of 7+ years of relevant professional experience or a combination of experience and advanced education.
  • 3+ years of supervising technical employees, with experience in performance management.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, asynchronous architectures, and distributed algorithms.
  • A demonstrable ability to lead and mentor engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Solid computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
