Physical Therapist Assistant

Amergis is seeking a skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to provide high-quality physical therapy services to our clients. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work under the direction of a Physical Therapist to implement treatment plans, provide patient care, and maintain accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide physical therapy services to clients, including treatment, implementation, and documentation under the direction of a Physical Therapist.
- Assess clients' living environments for barriers, safety risks, and equipment needs.
- Direct and aid clients in active, passive, and resistive therapeutic exercises, muscle re-education, functional gait and balance training, transfer activities, and prosthetic training.
- Instruct care and use of assistive mobility devices, braces, and prosthetic or orthotic devices.
- Utilize physical agents, including heat, cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound, and massage.
- Clean and maintain equipment used in the field in accordance with manufacturers' directions and company policy.
- Report reactions to treatment or changes in condition to the physician and Physical Therapist.
- Identify individual and family/caregiver needs for other supportive services and notify the Physical Therapist.
- Maintain communication with the company and other personnel caring for the client to ensure effective collaboration and support.
- Prepare and submit clinical progress summaries based on progress toward goals and responses to treatment.
- Participate in discharge planning.
- Provide/submits accurate and timely documentation consistent with the plan of care.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of practice.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Physical Therapy Assistant.
- One (1) year of prior professional Physical Therapy Assistant experience preferred.
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR if applicable.
- TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
