Job Title: Environmental Planner - Transportation Focus

Rincon Consultants is seeking an experienced Environmental Planner to join our team. As a key member of our environmental team, you will be responsible for conducting and overseeing research, field work, impact analysis, report preparation, and business development related to CEQA/NEPA and related technical studies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage complex CEQA/NEPA documents for roadway, transit, and rail projects
  • Interface with clients and make public presentations to agency decision-making bodies
  • Perform agency consultation and ensure environmental regulatory compliance
  • Perform various business development functions, including proposal preparation and active involvement in transportation-related planning/environmental organizations
  • Demonstrate confidence in decision-making and be recognized by clients and peers as having expertise in CEQA/NEPA and related technical areas
  • Understand the entire environmental scope of the projects and their impacts on the various groups & agencies involved
Requirements:
  • BS/BA Degree in applicable field and 8+ years of increasingly responsible experience required
  • Advanced Degree (Masters/PhD) preferred
  • Experience in a private environmental consulting firm preferred
  • Experience working with and/or for Metro, Caltrans, FTA, FHWA and/or local or a regional transportation/transit agency preferred
  • Demonstrated familiarity with NEPA, CEQA, and the related federal and California environmental processes
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a large multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent organization, schedule and budget management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Willingness to travel as projects require

The base salary range for this full-time position is $68,000-$104,000, plus benefits and bonus. At Rincon, our salary ranges are based on market median of similar jobs, according to third party salary benchmark surveys. The base pay that is actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
