Job Description

BAE Systems USA is seeking a highly skilled Program Engineering Manager to lead our Integrated Survivability Solutions (ISS) product line in the Countermeasures & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions business area.

About the Role

As a Program Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for planning, staffing, budgeting, scheduling, scope management, risk and opportunity management, and team coordination for our threat detection solutions, including the 2-Color Advanced Warning System (2CAWS) and the AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning System (CMWS) products.

You will collaborate with program management, engineering leadership, and customers to understand customer mission and needs, and interface with customers to create opportunities, communicate our solutions, set expectations, and manage scope.

Additionally, you will manage all engineering activities required to deliver and support critical mission capabilities, and work mainly onsite with the ability to telecommute occasionally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team working on state-of-the-art threat detection solutions
  • Be responsible for planning, staffing, budget, schedules, scope management, risk and opportunity management, and team coordination
  • Collaborate with program management, engineering leadership, and customers to understand customer mission and needs
  • Interface with customers to create opportunities, communicate our solutions, set expectations, and manage scope
  • Manage all engineering activities required to deliver and support critical mission capabilities
  • Manage, collaborate with, and mentor remote teams
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science and 10+ years of engineering development experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading engineering development efforts
  • Experience leading teams of 15+ engineers
  • Experience managing engineering budgets exceeding $15 million
  • At least 5 years direct engineering experience in threat warning technologies (UV and EO/IR capabilities and development) with emphasis on current and future US Army applications
  • Experience designing, building, testing, and integrating threat warning systems (applied versus theoretical)
  • Experience with project estimation, schedule & resource planning, project execution & tracking, and earned value management
  • Experience with leading/developing engineering proposals
  • Active Secret or higher security clearance; SAP/SAR eligible
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience leading teams of 25+ engineers
  • Experience managing engineering budgets exceeding $30 million
  • Familiarity with agile development concepts
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering
  • Experience with all phases of program execution from proposal to sustainment
