Engineering at Brex

Our Engineering division encompasses Data, IT, Security, and Software, tasked with developing innovative products and infrastructure for both internal and external stakeholders. We operate with multiple autonomous and collaborative teams eager to learn, teach, and continuously enhance our processes. Key Responsibilities

The Application Infrastructure team is part of the Infrastructure group, working alongside Release Infrastructure and Cloud Infrastructure. Our mission is to streamline the coding process for every product developer at Brex.

As a member of the Application Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for developing and managing a suite of platforms and tools that Product Engineers utilize to deliver high-quality software solutions efficiently. You will engage with a diverse array of technologies that support remote development environments, pre-merge testing, organization-wide dependency management, rapid Kotlin builds, developer command-line interfaces, federated GraphQL APIs, and more.

You should be comfortable navigating complex systems across various programming languages and abstraction levels. This role offers the chance to learn and innovate in delivering the best financial software experience to support business growth. You will be encouraged to adopt a metrics-driven approach and think creatively to help Brex expand into new markets and sectors.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a platform engineering capacity
  • Proficiency in Kotlin or Golang
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Background in Platform or Full-Stack development
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project management skills
  • Willingness to work in the office two days a week

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GraphQL, particularly with Federated GraphQL
  • Background in working with Bazel, especially if you have developed rules or maintained Bazel as a platform
  • Extensive experience with other multi-language build systems
  • Experience in extending Jetbrains IDEs

Compensation Overview

The anticipated salary range for this position is between $152,000 and $190,000. However, the initial base salary will be determined by various factors, including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demand, and internal pay equity. Depending on the specific role, equity and other forms of compensation may be included as part of the overall compensation package.
