Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Pool Surveillance and Safety: Maintain active surveillance of the pool area, ensuring the safety of all individuals present.
  • Emergency Response: Know and review all emergency procedures, respond to emergency situations immediately, and complete related reports as required.
  • Problem-Solving and Communication: Respond to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner, remain calm and objective under pressure, and effectively communicate with staff and members.
  • Record Keeping and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain accurate records as required, perform equipment checks, and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  • Pool Condition Monitoring: Check the pool for hazardous conditions upon arrival and perform chemical testing as required.
Requirements
  • Certification and Age: Must be a certified lifeguard and at least 15 years of age.
  • Physical and Mental Readiness: Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness.
  • Lifeguard Skills: Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
