Position Overview

The Float Pool RN at Duke Health is a vital role that offers a premium of $5.00 per hour. This position requires flexibility with Full-Time Day/Night Rotating Shifts, consisting of three 12-hour shifts with varying weekends.

Role Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be part of the Float Pool team, delivering care across various units, including Medical Surgical, Critical Care, and Pediatric units. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing patient care and support as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Participating in patient rounds and collaborating with healthcare professionals.
  • Managing patient ratios averaging between 1:3 to 1:6, depending on unit acuity.
  • Documenting assessments, planning care, and evaluating patient status.
  • Educating patients and families in alignment with the nursing care plan.
Qualifications

Ideal candidates will possess a strong passion for teamwork, accountability, and family-centered care. The position requires:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an Associate's Degree in Nursing, or a Nursing Diploma.
  • Current registration with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing or compact RN licensure.
  • All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in a BSN program within two years of employment.
Training and Development

Paid training averages four weeks for experienced RNs and 14 weeks for new graduates, depending on experience. Duke University Health System is dedicated to ongoing learning and development opportunities.
