The Bipolar Disorder Center at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider, specifically an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or a Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C). This role is integral to our interdisciplinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional, patient-centered care for adults experiencing bipolar disorder.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations by gathering health histories through interviews and chart reviews, assessing psychosocial factors, and performing physical examinations. Utilize structured clinical interviews and order necessary diagnostic tests.
- Treatment Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans by prescribing medications and integrating patient data to determine diagnoses and therapeutic strategies.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families regarding treatment options, health promotion, and illness prevention, while also recommending community resources.
- Research Participation: Engage in clinical trials and research projects aimed at enhancing psychiatric treatments and improving clinical practices.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate medical records, including patient charts and treatment plans, ensuring compliance with confidentiality standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and social workers, to coordinate comprehensive care and participate in support groups.
Qualifications:
- Licensure: Active RN and APNP license in Texas, along with board certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Experience: Minimum of one year in the inpatient and outpatient care of bipolar disorder.
- Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with proficiency in electronic medical records.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in psychiatric practice, involvement in research projects, and familiarity with value-based healthcare delivery models are advantageous. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
