Job Summary

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse 1 to join our team in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU). As a key member of our multidisciplinary treatment team, you will provide direct nursing care to individuals in accordance with Article 139 of the Education Law.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the treatment team.
  • Administer medications, perform treatment procedures, and monitor individuals' conditions.
  • Record and maintain accurate medical records, including nursing care plans, medications, and vital signs.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of individual care plans as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Modify nursing care plans based on individual condition and responses to care and treatment.
  • Triage individuals by assessing their condition and referring them to a physician as needed.
  • Provide education and counseling to individuals and families regarding health, medications, and treatment goals.
  • Ensure compliance with established infection control policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Current registration as a registered professional nurse in New York State.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (preferred).
  • 1 year of relevant clinical experience (preferred).
Work Schedule

Variable days, 7:30am to 8:00pm (Full-Time).

Salary and Benefits

As per civil service guidelines, with a salary range of $101,264 to $122,056 based on years of experience and education, plus shift and/or inconvenience pay.
