We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Actalent. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures and functions to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
Key Responsibilities- Specimen Acceptance and Testing: Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria and perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Instrumentation and Quality Control: Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality and perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Technical Decision Making: Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving and prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
- Communication and Documentation: Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care and maintain accurate records of testing and quality control procedures.
- Education and Certification: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or meet local regulatory CLIA State requirements and State Medical Technologist license (if required) and ASCP or AMT certification (if required).
- Experience and Skills: 0-2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience and proficiency with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems (a plus).
- Soft Skills: Ability to work independently and within a team environment, high level of attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills, and flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
