Job Summary

At Children's Wisconsin, we are seeking a highly skilled Medical Lab Scientist to join our team. As a Medical Lab Scientist, you will be responsible for performing testing on biological specimens in hospital and/or specialty clinic laboratory. Your expertise will aid physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by analyzing, evaluating, interpreting, teaching, and reporting test results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze biological specimens to provide clinical data for patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Perform maintenance, quality assurance, and quality control activities to ensure laboratory operations run smoothly.
  • Apply critical thinking and cognitive skills to report timely and accurate laboratory results.
  • Direct and supervise designated employees to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
  • Problem-solve and troubleshoot in various circumstances to ensure laboratory accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory sciences, or a related field.
  • Current ASCP certification as a medical technologist (MT) or medical laboratory scientist (MLS), or ASCP registry eligibility with certification within one year of employment.
  • Approximately six to twelve months of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and produce error-free results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with patients, families, physicians, and laboratory staff.
  • Leadership ability to assign and review the work of MLTs, MLAs, students, and other laboratory allied health staff.
