Social Services Associate

The State of Alaska is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Social Services Associate to join our team in the Office of Children's Services. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, permanency, and well-being of children by strengthening families, engaging communities, and partnering with Tribes.
Job SummaryThis is a full-time position located in Anchorage, Alaska, and is open to Alaska residents only. The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks, including conducting criminal history checks, screening homes for emergency child placements, and using relevant database searches to conduct screening checks of the state's child abuse and neglect registry.
Responsibilities- Conduct criminal history checks for OCS personnel investigating reports of child abuse and neglect
- Screen homes for emergency child placements
- Use relevant database searches to conduct screening checks of the state's child abuse and neglect registry
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- One year of any combination of postsecondary or vocational education and/or experience in assisting clients, customers, the general public, or other staff in the explanation and application of guidelines, policies, or services
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of people
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to learn and apply state statutes, regulations, operating policies, and procedures
- Ability to exercise a high degree of tact, discretion, and sound judgment in the daily performance of the work and communication with others
