Position Overview
Role Summary
The Manufacturing Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing production activities to guarantee that operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and promptly. This position entails managing production schedules and assigning daily tasks based on operational requirements and individual competencies. A hands-on approach is essential, as this individual will provide direct support for all team members on a daily basis. The Manufacturing Supervisor will champion product/process safety, quality, delivery, and team morale, while being accountable for the continuous enhancement of the assigned department and the training and development of direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Duties
- Ensure all tasks are performed safely and efficiently, adhering to company policies and applicable regulations.
- Communicate, train, guide, and mentor employees to achieve operational goals that enhance team performance in producing high-quality products.
- Develop and support junior supervisors, assessing interpersonal skills and providing constructive feedback to improve communication.
- Schedule and allocate personnel based on manufacturing demands.
- Continuously evaluate equipment capacity and material supply to optimize manufacturing output.
- Assess employee skills to align with the requirements of various manufacturing areas.
- Monitor and analyze output, manufacturing processes, labor efficiencies, operating expenses, and quality metrics for assigned areas.
- Measure performance and quality standards.
- Drive positive outcomes in operational Key Performance Indicators.
- Establish collaborative relationships with other departments, including Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, Planning, and Quality, to meet production objectives.
- Regularly meet with the management team to review production performance and identify improvement priorities.
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Technical Science, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing setting.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and labor laws.
- Skills in conflict resolution and time management.
- Strong communication, presentation, organizational, problem-solving, teamwork, interpersonal, and leadership abilities.
- Proficient in computer applications.
- Effective use of technology, tools, and information systems.
- Ability to foster a team-oriented environment.
- Capability to provide guidance and direction as needed.
- Ability to set objectives, make decisions, and oversee operations with minimal supervision.
- Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
- Willingness to support operations during off shifts as necessary.
- Ability to achieve business results independently and through team collaboration.
