Environmental Permitting Specialist

Kleinfelder is seeking an experienced Environmental Permitting Specialist to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA. As a key member of our Environmental Permitting and Planning (EP&P) Team, you will be responsible for conducting stream and wetland delineations, as well as providing technical expertise on environmental permitting and planning.

• Conduct stream and wetland delineations, including wetland and stream surveys and assessments
• Provide technical expertise on environmental permitting and planning, including Section 401/404 of the Clean Water Act and state and federal regulatory agency expertise
• Develop and implement stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs) and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction
• Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders

• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Environmental, Biological, or Ecological Science, Environmental Policy, or a related field
• 8-10 years of experience in environmental consulting, and/or regulatory agency employment in the region
• Prior experience working and coordinating with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
• Strong technical writing and QA/QC skills, with the ability to effectively prepare and review proposals and reports
• Excellent teamwork and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively engage directly with staff and leadership

• Experience with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting and/or Pennsylvania Chapter 102 permitting
• National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) experience
• Experience conducting and completing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
• GIS Skills
• Experience with stream and wetland mitigation design
• Prior experience conducting construction stormwater compliance inspections
• Prior experience conducting specialized T&E species surveys
