SUNY Broome Community College is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our Financial Aid Office as a part-time Staff Assistant. This temporary position will report to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid/Operations and the Assistant Vice President for Human Resources and Student Finance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student/Parent Information Verification: Verify student/parent information on the FAFSA in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Grant and Loan Processing: Calculate and award federal and state grants as well as process student and parent federal loans based on individual student eligibility.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Ensure that there is no discrepant data by developing familiarity with tax forms, verification worksheets, and other required documents and reconciling discrepancies by communicating with students, parents, and spouses to clarify data.
- Compliance and Regulations: Assist in reviewing and updating Federal, State, and Local Compliance rules and regulations.
- Student Representation: Represent Student Financial Services at Student Open Houses, Orientations, workshops, High School Nights, and seminars.
- Application Navigation: Assist in the navigation of various Federal, State and Local Applications for Student Aid.
Requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Additional Training: Additional training and education in the applicable administrative field is desirable.
- Experience: One (1) year of experience working in an educational institution or in a related administrative function desired.
- Preferred Qualifications: Human Services experience, financial experience, or additional experience with any of the functional responsibilities of the position preferred.
Additional Information:
The hourly rate for this position is $24.38.
Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
