Key Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in electrical and mechanical diagnostics and repairs for production and auxiliary equipment. This role requires adherence to safe work practices while maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity. The successful individual will work under general supervision, tackling complex projects that necessitate innovative thinking and action.

Essential Duties:

  • Adhere to all company policies regarding safety, quality, and attendance.
  • Conduct proactive troubleshooting, repairs, and rectifications of mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues to ensure the operational capability of production machinery.
  • Address PLC issues, including code modifications and program management.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical failures in AC/DC drives and inverters, including programming and startup configuration.
  • Design electrical circuits for existing equipment to enhance safety and functionality.
  • Implement electromechanical upgrades to existing systems, including transitioning from DC to AC and installing PLCs to replace discrete controls.
  • Utilize meters, power supplies, service monitors, and test fixtures effectively.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all plant operating systems and readily access relevant diagrams and schematics.
  • Collaborate with contractors for equipment repairs, installations, and upgrades.
  • Provide 24/7 technical support for production operations.
  • Regularly inspect production lines and equipment, performing necessary repairs and upgrades during scheduled maintenance cycles.
  • Utilize hand tools and small power tools for the fabrication of components.
  • Lead the assembly, installation, disassembly, and demolition of production and support equipment as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to plant and departmental housekeeping standards.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or GED is required.

Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial maintenance, including troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems. Experience with blown film manufacturing and converting equipment is advantageous.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Solid electrical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary and participate in an on-call rotation with maintenance staff.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements of this position include frequent standing, walking, reaching, climbing, and performing tasks that may require bending, kneeling, or crawling. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required include color vision, and the employee must be capable of climbing ladders and working in confined spaces.

Work Environment:

This role involves exposure to potential hazards such as electrical shock, wet conditions, and moving mechanical parts. The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, and safety glasses. Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and holidays, may be necessary.
