Neuroscience Critical Care Nurse Practitioner

Phoenix, Arizona, United States Neurocritical Care and Stroke of Arizona Full time
Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Neuroscience Critical Care Nurse Practitioner to enhance our specialized team. Our Neuroscience ICU is expanding, and we are looking for a skilled NP to contribute to our patient care initiatives.

This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including board-certified neurointensivists, physician assistants, and fellow acute care nurse practitioners. The focus is on delivering patient-centered care, performing bedside procedures, engaging in quality improvement efforts, and providing education and training.

The patient demographic encompasses a wide range of neurological conditions, such as:

  • Stroke
  • Intracranial hemorrhage
  • Brain tumors
  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Spinal cord injuries
  • Cerebrovascular disorders
  • Neurodegenerative diseases
  • Neuromuscular disorders
  • Seizure disorders

Our Neurosciences department utilizes cutting-edge technologies, including tele-robotic medicine, continuous EEG monitoring, and advanced neuro-interventional procedures, alongside intracranial pressure and oxygen monitoring.

The position includes a comprehensive training period of six months. Following successful completion, the NP will work four 10-hour shifts, with a rotation that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. The stroke call is manageable, averaging two alerts per call, and can be conducted via telemedicine from outside the hospital. Typically, there are seven stroke calls per month, with no in-house shifts required past midnight.

We offer an annual CME stipend and ensure 100% supervision by a physician, significantly reducing liability risks associated with malpractice for nurse practitioners. Additionally, we cover medical malpractice insurance and provide on-the-job training for procedures such as central lines, lumbar punctures, and arterial lines.

This is a full-time position that includes health insurance benefits and a 401K plan.

Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Board eligible for licensure in Arizona or possess a current Arizona NP license.
  • Previous experience in ICU, neurosurgery, inpatient care, or neurology is preferred.
