Field Research Technician

Position Overview
The R&D Technician is essential in advancing and assessing innovative technologies within our agricultural and specialty sectors. Helena is actively engaged in the integration of precision agriculture tools, including drones and imaging technology, for research and development initiatives.

This role is primarily field-based. The ideal candidate will possess practical field experience along with an educational background in agriculture to enhance their applied knowledge. This position is particularly suited for a proficient field operator with equipment handling experience who aims to evolve into a scientific capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Establishes research studies at Helena-managed facilities and/or partner farms.
• Applies crop protection and production products across various crops within the designated territory.
• Assesses product efficacy, performance, crop safety, yield, and quality.
• Maintains study sites for cleanliness and prepares for field demonstration activities.
• Ensures the upkeep and cleanliness of Helena's R&D facilities to optimize operational efficiency.
• Collects, inputs, and analyzes data from trials using specialized research software.
• Calibrates scientific and commercial equipment for accurate application.
• Conducts maintenance on equipment, including minor repairs to small engines and spraying apparatus.
• Operates various agricultural machinery for diverse farming tasks.
• Prepares documentation and materials for field demonstrations and related events.
• Performs additional job-related duties as assigned by management.
• Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in an agriculture-related discipline is mandatory.
• Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is necessary.
• Must successfully complete a drug screening and background verification.
• A valid U.S. driver's license is essential for operating company vehicles.

• Mechanical aptitude, including the ability to perform basic repairs on small engines and spraying equipment.

The work environment for this position involves outdoor settings in various weather conditions, with potential exposure to environmental elements. This role requires manual dexterity for various tasks and involves talking, hearing, walking, standing, and sitting. Occasionally, lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds may be necessary.
