Astronics is seeking a highly skilled Principal Staff Electrical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for our aircraft and spacecraft.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop electrical systems, including power distribution, communication, and navigation systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure electrical systems meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain electrical system architectures, including PCBA level design, BOM management, and revision control.
- Lead the development of multilayer PCBs, including high-speed communication, wireless modules, microcontroller/microprocessor circuits, power management, and serial/peripheral interfaces.
- Conduct product verification and testing, including final analysis and development of tests, reports, and programming scripts.
- Develop electrical system architectures and provide direction to engineering technicians and interns.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on electrical engineering design processes.
- Support the transfer of design files into the manufacturing process and ensure regulatory compliance testing.
- Develop and review the creation and evolution of the electrical engineering design process.
- BS in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering from an accredited university program with a minimum of 20 years' experience.
- ECAD experience for schematic capture and layout, preferably Altium Designer.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Team player and methodical self-starter able to complete projects in a timely manner.
- Software experience in languages or environments such as C/C++, Python, Linux, Bash, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi.
