The Opportunity

We are in search of a New Business Conflicts Clearance Analyst to enhance our Firm. This role will involve supporting the New Business Conflicts Clearance team by performing comprehensive conflicts checks, maintaining precise records in the conflicts database, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the conflicts resolution process. Please note that the Firm will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.

  1. Evaluates and interprets conflicts reports to pinpoint any potential conflicts of interest that necessitate resolution.
  2. Works collaboratively with other members of the New Business Conflict Clearance team, Conflicts Attorneys, and the Office of the General Counsel to address potential ethical conflicts and facilitate the initiation of new matters.
  3. Effectively communicates with attorneys and staff to collect essential information for conflicts checks, conflicts review, and to clarify any inconsistencies in the request form.
  4. Confirms the requirements for each conflict check with the requesting attorney or secretary to ensure adherence to firm policies and legal standards.
  5. Conducts corporate research utilizing both internal and external resources to verify information accuracy and comprehend corporate relationships and structures.
  6. Coordinates with the Client Accounting Department and other relevant departments to maintain the integrity and consistency of database information.
  7. Provides coverage for departmental functions, including after-hours and weekend support as necessary, ensuring uninterrupted operation of conflicts resolution processes.
  8. Exhibits effective interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to foster productive work relationships.
  9. Utilizes Firm resources responsibly.
  10. Adheres to and comprehends Firm operations, policies, and procedures.
  11. Performs other related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Proficient in relevant firm software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the capability to learn new software and operating systems.
  2. Familiarity with conflicts database software, preferably iManage, and a general understanding of the conflicts resolution process in a legal or professional services environment.
  3. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, when interacting with Firm attorneys and staff.
  4. Shows meticulous attention to detail.
  5. Possesses strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and planning abilities.
  6. Able to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
  7. Capable of handling sensitive matters while maintaining confidentiality.
  8. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.
  9. Thrives in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
  10. Works well independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  11. Exhibits discretion and exercises independent and sound judgment.
  12. Willingness to adjust hours and work as necessary to meet operational and business needs.
  13. Bachelor's degree required.
  14. A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
  15. Experience within a conflicts department at an Am Law 50 firm is preferred.

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be within the range listed under Salary Details. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant), and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
