Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides evaluation and care for respiratory therapy patients, administering prescribed respiratory therapeutic services as needed.
  • Initiates, maintains, and discontinues mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients, ensuring accurate and timely care.
  • Communicates effectively with other members of the healthcare team, providing clear and concise updates on patient status and treatment plans.
  • Assists with patient and family/caregiver education, promoting a comprehensive understanding of respiratory care and treatment options.
  • Participates in departmental quality assurance and hospital-wide organizational performance improvement activities, contributing to the development of best practices and quality initiatives.
Requirements
  • Licensed by the West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist - Registered (LRTR), or equivalent certification in applicable states.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date, with additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP, etc.) required within 30 days or 6 months, depending on local hospital requirements.
  • Two (2) years of respiratory therapy experience in a hospital setting, with a strong understanding of respiratory care principles and practices.
