Community Support Specialist

Job Summary:

The Community Support Specialist at UCAN works with a multidisciplinary treatment team to provide direct services to adolescent teens and teen parents and their children in a transitional living setting. This role emphasizes life skills and parenting skill development, mentoring, and relationship building. The ideal candidate will have experience working with at-risk youth and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct daily observations of client behaviors, skills, and emotional status
  • Assist clients in following their daily schedule and addressing issues of time management
  • Teach and demonstrate daily living, parenting, coping, and interpersonal skills
  • Monitor client compliance with program rules and expectations
  • Implement client service plans and communicate observations and assessments to the treatment team

Requirements:
  • Associate's degree preferred with at least 1 year of experience working with children and adolescents, or
  • GED or H.S. diploma required with 3-5 years of experience working with children and adolescents
  • CPR/First Aid certification or becomes so within 90 days of employment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to be flexible with scheduling needs and shifts
  • Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a high-functioning team
