About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Facilities Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at the City of Atlanta, GA. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing skilled and manual work functions associated with the general maintenance of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilities Maintenance: Direct and perform activities related to the repair and maintenance of facilities and equipment, including general construction, repair, and installation tasks.
  • Skilled Trades: Perform basic plumbing, welding, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, landscaping, and other tasks, including installing and repairing plumbing systems, gas pipe lines, and fuel pumps.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain inventory levels of tools and materials, order supplies as needed, and pick up special parts from suppliers.
  • Shop Maintenance: Maintain a clean and orderly shop, pick up and dispose of refuse, and perform various tasks or errands as assigned.
  • Training and Guidance: Provide training, guidance, and direction to co-workers or assistants on projects.
  • Supervisory Duties: Perform supervisory duties as assigned, including providing assistance to other positions as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience: One year (1) of experience in construction, carpentry, building trades, such as HVAC, plumbing, welding, or electrical.
  • Licenses: Valid Georgia Driver's License required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial Driver's License: A Georgia's Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) is preferred.
