Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Specialist to join our team at Trinity Health. As a Pharmacy Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of pharmaceutical care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced pharmacy functions, including compounding, dispensing, and inventory management.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to pharmacy technicians and other support staff.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to resolve medication-related issues and improve patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient medication profiles, inventory levels, and quality control measures.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with changing regulations, technologies, and best practices in pharmacy operations.
Requirements
  • Minimum of six months specialized training beyond high school.
  • Minimum one year experience at the pharmacy technician level.
  • Licensure as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan is required.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.
  • Basic typing and word processing skills.
  • Basic computer skills to do order entry, generate reports, retrieve data, and diagnose minor printer problems.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (at least four and up to eight hours per day) or to walk long distances without difficulty.
  • Interpersonal skills to effectively train technicians and interact with physicians, nurses, and other Health Center personnel to resolve routine distribution issues.
  • Written communication skills necessary to develop and implement departmental distribution procedures.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Good level of judgment and ability to work independently.
  • Analytical skills to effectively resolve controlled substance discrepancies and routine distribution problems.
  • Maintenance of quality assurance standards that ensures a high level of work accuracy.

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The successful candidate will be able to maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy while working independently and as part of a team.
