Job Summary:
The Wabash General Hospital Primary Care Office Nurse/CMA plays a vital role in the delivery of healthcare services in a family practice setting. This position requires a skilled and compassionate individual to assist the provider in providing high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the provider in taking vital signs, administering medications, and monitoring patient records.
- Use effective communication skills to discuss medical-related issues and questions with patients and families.
- Make referrals to other care providers as needed.
- Participate in patient education, infection control, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments and ensure cleanliness and sterilization processes are followed.
- Order, prepare, and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments.
- Screen telephone calls for referral to the physician and take phone messages related to medical questions.
- Relay messages concerning prescriptions to the physician.
- Perform diagnostic testing and proficiency testing on equipment and diagnostic materials.
- Keep accurate records of testing performed and/or sent to other laboratories.
- Maintain information on patient's electronic medical record chart.
- Advise and assist support personnel in scheduling tests and treatments.
- Accurately and timely complete FMLA/WC forms.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or CMA program.
- Current Illinois license as a registered or licensed practical nurse or CMA certification.
- Current CPR certification.
- Good working knowledge of the nursing process and strong nursing practice skills, including physical assessment skills.
- Clinical experience preferred, but not required.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.
Work Schedule:
- Monday-Thursday: 8:00 am-5:00 pm
- Friday: 8:00 am-12:00 pm
