Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Automotive Mechanic to join our team at Bloomington Public Schools. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex vehicle systems, including drivetrain, brakes, electrical systems, and exhaust & emission systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on grounds-related equipment, such as John Deere tractors, New Holland tractors, and Toro lawn equipment.
  • Record parts and labor accurately on work orders and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Communicate vehicle status information with staff and attempt to repair on-road breakdowns as needed.
  • Comply with safety and health rules, using personal protective equipment as required.
Requirements
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills with automotive vehicles and grounds-related equipment.
  • Ability to weld and fabricate.
  • Must have a clean driving record and have or be able to obtain a Minnesota commercial driver's license with school bus and passenger endorsement.
  • Ability to lift 60lbs.
  • Mechanical ability.
  • Ability to demonstrate written and verbal skills.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Must pass physical and physical ability test.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE certification.
