Job Overview

This Senior Bioinformatics Specialist role is a critical part of our team, focused on advancing genomics and transcriptomics research through expert data analysis and curation.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Curate and standardize GWAS summary statistics datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Annotate genomic variants using established tools and databases.
  • Map SNPs to genes and determine their functional relevance.
  • Lead the analysis of transcriptomic datasets, including bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, to derive actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with research teams to understand specific data requirements and applications.
  • Maintain and contribute to project codebases.
Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree with 1+ year of experience or a PhD in quantitative sciences (Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Genetics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field).
  • Proven capability in designing and implementing bioinformatics workflows and corresponding GitHub codebase repositories.
  • Expertise in R programming and comfort operating in Unix/Linux and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
  • Familiarity with genome-wide association studies, particularly fine mapping and colocalization from GWAS summary data.
  • Hands-on experience in curating and processing transcriptomic datasets, especially bulk and single-cell RNA-Seq, with the ability to conduct downstream analyses.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in basic statistical concepts, such as p-value, odds ratio, effect size, multiple testing correction, and Bayesian approaches for colocalization analysis.
  • Prior experience in immunological diseases or rare disease genetics is beneficial.
