Job Summary

BHcare is seeking a skilled Prevention Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our community health team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing prevention programs that address substance misuse and mental health promotion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify local community needs and collaborate with partners to assess local capacity for prevention initiatives.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based strategies for community-level prevention, ensuring alignment with best practices in the field.
  • Provide engaging presentations and training sessions as required, addressing specific educational needs identified through assessments.
  • Enter activity data into IMPACT for comprehensive tracking and prepare and submit reports on time, ensuring compliance with deliverable requirements.
  • Attend local, regional, and state-level meetings to support internal work and strategic community partners, fostering collaboration with diverse stakeholders for effective prevention efforts.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in public health, psychology, social work, health sciences, education, counseling, or a related field is required or may be substituted for associate degree with documented experience in areas of substance misuse prevention, mental health, community organizing or U.S. military training experience working with substance misuse prevention / mental health promotion.
  • Certified Prevention Specialist or willing to obtain.
