Overview:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in the healthcare team by assisting in the assessment, planning, and delivery of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Provider. This position is dedicated to providing essential bedside care for patients across all age groups within the hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the collection of patient information for evaluation by an RN or Provider.
- Monitor patients and report any unusual findings to the healthcare team.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for any adverse reactions.
- Conduct routine laboratory tests as required.
- Educate patients and their families regarding care and treatment.
- Assist in the orientation of new staff members, sharing knowledge and providing support.
- Maintain accurate and current documentation and patient records.
- Follow National Patient Safety Goals as established by JCAHO.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to enhance operational efficiency and ensure quality patient care.
- Undertake other duties as required.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) is preferred.
- Familiarity with EPIC or similar Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities are essential.
- Previous experience in a physician's office is preferred.
- Phlebotomy skills are preferred.
- Education: Completion of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program. Current Ohio License as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Experience: A minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience is preferred.
- Supervisory Experience: Not applicable.
