The role of the Lateral Flow Lab Associate encompasses various responsibilities within the quality assurance of reagents produced for lateral flow diagnostic kits. This position supports scientists and research associates in the development of immunoassays, contributing to different phases of the manufacturing and testing of lateral flow test strips. The ideal candidate is meticulous, highly driven, and eager to establish new methodologies where necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the formulation of standard buffers and reagents.
  • Utilize standard laboratory instruments (e.g., pipettes, centrifuges, pH meters, nanodrop devices, and scales) to conduct quality control tasks related to lateral flow reagents.
  • Employ lateral flow test strips and assembled tests to validate reagents and gather data.
  • Assist in the production of lateral flow test strips, which includes material dispensing, lamination, cutting, and assembly.
  • Accurately document activities in quality control records associated with the quality management system.
  • Oversee, organize, and maintain cold storage inventory of test materials, retention samples, and reference samples.
  • Manage general laboratory supplies and specific reagent inventories to ensure efficient workflows.
  • Support special projects and feasibility assessments.
  • Assist in conducting stability and performance studies for antibodies utilized in lateral flow assays.
  • Conduct quality assessments of gold-conjugated antibodies.
  • Uphold the principles of quality management and assurance.
  • Effectively multitask while balancing quality with productivity.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

Educational Background:

  • Associate degree or higher in a relevant scientific discipline—such as biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or immunology.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field, preferably with lateral flow assays.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office365.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in fundamental laboratory techniques.
  • Strong communication skills across various organizational levels and platforms.
  • Mathematical and scientific aptitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
  • Solid planning, prioritization, and project management skills, with experience managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
