Radiation Therapist

As a Radiation Therapist at Eisenhower Health, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care. Your primary responsibility will be to follow the prescription plan and deliver radiation therapy to patients as ordered by the physician. You will work collaboratively with the front office staff, radiation oncology nurse, physicists, and dosimetrist to ensure every patient receives accurate, precise, and high-quality treatment in an emotionally healing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver radiation therapy treatments with high technical quality using proper set-up and calculation parameters.
Process and film orthogonal/port films prescribed by the physician, obtaining port films in accordance with department portal vision protocols.
Maintain and update scheduling for new patients and current treatment times, simulations, conedowns, offcord treatments, etc. Notify appropriate team members related to changes or questions.
Utilize proper safety procedures, body mechanics, and lifting techniques when dealing with patients and equipment, reporting any malfunctions and safety incidents to the director or lead therapist immediately.
Simulate patients and design custom blockings, selecting and correctly placing immobilization devices, customized blocks, and optimizing patient comfort in a manner that can be reproduced each time.
Perform calculations using a computer to assure accuracy.
Maintain appropriate charges for radiation therapy.
Maintain a clean and neat work area, stocking supplies and linen in rooms when needed, disinfecting used equipment frequently, and utilizing downtime as needed.
Daily Q.A. of treatment machines, simulator, and CT Scanner to obtain expected values and report any deviation to the physicist immediately.
Make a team effort to chart, check, file, stock rooms, check for supplies, and be sensitive to and willing to flex "out" when needed.
Identify and share with the Director/co-workers opportunities for improving patient and guest satisfaction.
Attend weekly chart rounds and actively participate when appropriate.
Requirements
Education: 2 years Diagnostic School Program + 1 year experience (Preferred: Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Program).
Licensure/Certification: A.R.R.T. Registered, CA State Certificate (CRT), American Heart Association BLS.
Experience: Preferred 1-3 years direct experience in treating acute patients.
