GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The Store Area Manager plays a crucial role within the Store Leadership team, overseeing a designated section of the store while also managing overall store operations during shifts as the Manager on Duty. This position is responsible for the store's opening and closing procedures, supervising team members, and ensuring a welcoming shopping atmosphere. The Area Manager guarantees optimal product presentation and maintains a tidy workspace at all times. Additionally, they execute and oversee company operational processes as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensuring Safety and Security:
- Recognizes that safety is the top priority and adheres to safe practices in all activities.
- Maintains a vigilant presence on the sales floor to foster a secure shopping environment, promptly addressing or reporting any unsafe conditions.
- Oversees the security of the premises, including access control, daily checks of security devices, and cash office safety.
- Eliminates hazards and ensures clear access to emergency exits.
- Responsible for customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency protocols.
- Conducts scheduled tests of fire alarm systems and responds to alarms as necessary.
Customer Engagement:
- Treats all customers, associates, and fellow leaders with dignity and respect.
- Exhibits professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness at all times, recognizing team members through company recognition initiatives.
Brand Representation:
- Embodies and promotes the company brand consistently.
- Maintains a professional appearance in line with the company dress code and ensures all associates comply with these standards.
- Ensures all areas of the store are clean, well-organized, and merchandised according to company standards.
- Responsible for daily waste disposal.
Merchandising Responsibilities:
- Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns are performed to company standards through effective delegation and follow-up.
- Handles merchandise deliveries as needed.
- Processes all products with urgency and ensures the cleanliness and organization of stockrooms.
- Responsible for the secure handling of back-stock and compliance with merchandising policies.
- Oversees the merchandising of the department, including back stock, and ensures compliance with monthly presentation guidelines.
Loss Prevention:
- Understands and adheres to the Loss Prevention Awareness Program, maintaining a strong customer service presence on the sales floor.
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguarding confidential information and merchandise.
- Ensures the Public View Monitor system is properly maintained.
Front End Management:
- Implements company best practices to enhance productivity and minimize unnecessary steps during operations.
- Maintains energy and presence at the front end, managing customer flow to reduce wait times.
- Trains associates on cash register operations and shortage control policies.
Fitting Room Oversight:
- Responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of fitting rooms.
- Ensures compliance with company policies regarding garment tags and returns.
Administrative Duties:
- Ensures cash handling and bank deposits are conducted according to company policy.
- Responsible for payroll administration, including scheduling compliance and reporting.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to utilize all store equipment and remain active throughout the workday, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting as necessary.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision of retail associates and stockroom leads as applicable.
