Nuclear Medicine Imaging Specialist

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist plays a vital role in providing high-quality patient care at ThedaCare. This position requires a strong understanding of state regulatory guidelines and the ability to perform nuclear medicine procedures under the supervision of a radiologist, cardiologist, and/or radiation oncologist.
Key Responsibilities- Understand and apply state regulatory requirements related to the handling, administration, and storage of radiopharmaceuticals to protect team members and patients from unnecessary radiation exposure.
- Perform ordered examinations (including therapies) of appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site reading physician.
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform planar, SPECT (single-photon emission computerized tomography), and dynamic nuclear medicine imaging on a variety of equipment to create the best possible images of specific areas of the body.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, nursing, and team members to provide the best care to our patients.
- Show competency in intravenous access and administration of radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with established protocols while using aseptic technique.
- Complete documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy/procedure, including proper image management and accurate documentation in electronic medical record.
- Associate's degree
- NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) Technologist, AART(N) The American Academy of Radiology Technologists Nuclear Registered
This position requires frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments, occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist may also be exposed to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.
This position will rotate to TCN, TCA, and Encircle locations in both general Nuc Med and PET. The scheduled weekly hours are 32, and the scheduled FTE is 0.8. The location is ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - Appleton - Appleton, Wisconsin. Overtime is exempt.
