Job Title: Dean of Nursing

Old Dominion University invites applications for the position of Dean of Nursing, a key leadership role in the newly independent School of Nursing. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the school's academic programs, research initiatives, and community engagement efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement the school's strategic plan, aligning with the university's mission and goals.
  • Lead the faculty and staff in delivering high-quality academic programs, including undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in research, practice, and education.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, including healthcare organizations, community groups, and industry leaders.
  • Ensure the school's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and promote a culture of respect and empathy.
Requirements:
  • Terminal degree in nursing or a related field.
  • Proven leadership experience in academic administration, preferably in a nursing school or department.
  • Strong track record of research, teaching, and service, with a focus on nursing education and practice.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, building strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in nursing or a related field.
  • Experience in leading strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Strong understanding of accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to think critically and strategically, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
