Objective: As a vital member of our team, you will deliver exceptional and humane care to animals in our shelter. Your role is crucial in ensuring that all animals are provided with a secure and sanitary living space, along with adequate nourishment and hydration.
Compensation: $16/hour
Employee Benefits:

Work Schedule: Part-time, ranging from 4 to 29 hours per week, with shifts lasting between 4 to 8 hours.
- Weekend shifts available on Monday, Saturday, and Sunday from 7am to 6pm
- Weekday shifts from Tuesday to Friday between 7am and 8pm
- Availability for at least one weekend day is required; full weekend availability is encouraged
Key Responsibilities:
Animal Care: Conduct daily sanitation and cleaning of animal enclosures and areas in accordance with established protocols. Prepare and serve food to animals following specified guidelines. Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Data Management: Ensure accurate data entry into the shelter's computer system.
Support Duties: Assist in the safe handling of animals for transportation, medical care, and other necessary procedures. Facilitate the movement of animals within the shelter as required.
Effective Communication: Actively listen and responsibly manage information. Relay information clearly and promptly, and provide constructive feedback in a professional manner.
Workplace Culture: Promote an inclusive and open work environment by embodying the values and behaviors of the organization. Advocate for a culture of safety and encourage meaningful engagement with volunteers.
Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Attendance: Consistent and reliable attendance is essential, with the ability to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
Experience: Previous experience with animals is preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficient in computer usage, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
Flexibility: Ability to adapt and work positively in diverse situations while maintaining attention to detail.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members across departments.
Physical and Emotional Resilience: Must be capable of managing the physical demands of working in a shelter environment, including handling various animals with specific medical and behavioral needs. Emotional resilience is required to cope with the challenges of shelter work, including humane euthanasia when necessary. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
