Under minimal supervision, the Lead Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for conducting a variety of diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including but not limited to abdominal and obstetric/gynecological imaging, using advanced ultrasound technology and transducers.

- Technical Proficiency:
- Operates diagnostic ultrasound equipment proficiently to capture high-quality images.
- Adjusts technical parameters based on the specific requirements of each examination and the patient's physical condition.
- Ensures proper patient positioning, taking into account their physical and cognitive abilities.
- Handles and positions patients, particularly infants and elderly individuals, with utmost care to prevent injury.
- Maintains adherence to safety protocols and infection control measures.
- Documentation and Communication:
- Records clinical activities accurately and promptly.
- Completes necessary documentation following each procedure, including patient history relevant to ultrasound imaging.
- Communicates effectively with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to clarify examination orders.
- Leadership and Team Coordination:
- Provides guidance and direction to junior staff members.
- Assigns tasks to ensure timely completion of examinations.
- Offers constructive feedback to management regarding operational challenges and staffing issues.
- Facilitates positive communication between departments to enhance collaboration.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Adheres to all relevant organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintains high standards of professional conduct to enhance service quality.
- Ensures that all patients are treated in accordance with their rights.
- Education: Completion of a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or equivalent experience in a major medical facility.
- Licensure: Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen, Breast, and Obstetrics/Gynecology.
- Experience: A minimum of two years in a diagnostic medical sonography role.
- Three years of experience in a major medical center.
- Familiarity with advanced ultrasound systems and reporting software.
