Operations Manager

Trans 99 Logistics is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead our U.S. division's day-to-day transportation operations. As the first hire in our Detroit division, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of our U.S. organization, reporting directly to the President of U.S. Operations. We are a dynamic, growing company with authority in Canada, Mexico, and the USA, operating 300 trucks in Canada and offering full-service freight brokerage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily transportation operations, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of freight across our routes.
  • Supervise and develop drivers, dispatchers, and operations staff to maximize performance and productivity.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, driver retention, and fleet utilization.
  • Coordinate route planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet client needs and optimize efficiency.
  • Oversee fleet management activities, including vehicle maintenance, inspections, and ensuring compliance with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, clients, and third-party partners to ensure smooth operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the leadership team to identify process improvements and streamline operations as we grow.
  • Support other departments as necessary, including safety and payroll functions, as we expand our team.
  • Use data and technology, including transportation management systems (TMS) and fleet management tools like Samsara, to optimize operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in transportation operations management, preferably within the trucking industry.
  • Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations.
  • Proven experience managing transportation teams, including dispatchers and drivers.
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and fleet management technologies such as Samsara.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
