Engineering Technician Role

An Engineering Technician is a skilled professional with 0 - 3 years of experience in the engineering field.
This role involves collaborating with a team of engineers to create and produce construction documentation for various building facilities and materials, including the rehabilitation or replacement of existing structures. Additionally, this position entails conducting inspections of current building facilities and preparing detailed reports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Application of structural engineering principles and detailing methods in the development of building design and rehabilitation strategies.

  • Conduct analyses to generate design alternatives or recommendations, assisting in the formulation of cost estimates and specifications.

  • Execute routine engineering tasks that require the application of established techniques and procedures.

  • Work independently on smaller projects while providing support to Senior Engineers on larger assignments.

  • Collaborate closely with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Additional responsibilities include participating in building inspections as necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with AISC, IBC, ACI, and ASCE 7 design standards.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or REVIT software.
  • Proficiency in REVIT is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of structural analysis tools such as STAAD Pro and Tekla Structures.

  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and complete assignments on schedule and within budget.

  • Excellent time management capabilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year institution.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:

  • Engineer-in-Training certificate or the ability to obtain it within six months.
  • Valid Driver's License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires the ability to meet the physical demands necessary to perform essential job functions. The role is situated in a professional office setting, routinely utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Work necessitates frequent and prolonged computer usage. The position requires the capability to sit, stand, file, and lift and carry files weighing up to 25 pounds.
