Job Overview

Nova Analytic Labs, a leading cannabis testing laboratory in Portland, ME, seeks an entry-level Research Scientist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic startup environment and contribute to the health and safety of recreational and medicinal cannabis and hemp products.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing daily lab tasks, sample pickup, sample receipt, and testing under the guidance of our experienced Lab Manager. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to grow into more senior roles and develop your skills in a fast-paced and innovative scientific environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily laboratory tasks, including sample preparation, analysis, and data entry;
  • Work collaboratively with the Lab Manager to ensure all samples are received, extracted, analyzed, and reported in compliance with company policies and procedures;
  • Maintain accurate equipment logs and perform routine maintenance tasks;
  • Develop and implement efficient workflows to improve laboratory productivity and accuracy;
  • Contribute to quality control processes to ensure high-quality results;

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a science-related field (e.g., chemistry, biology, environmental science);
  • At least 2 years of college coursework or equivalent experience in a high-complexity laboratory, food testing lab, or environmental testing lab;
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills;
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities;

Estimated Salary Range

$45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
