Certified Medication Aide

As a Certified Medication Aide at Hills and Dales Child Development Center, you will play a vital role in supporting children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. This position requires a compassionate and detail-oriented individual who can administer medications accurately and provide excellent care to our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer scheduled/assigned medications according to the six R's: Right Resident, Right Medication, Right Dose, Right Time, Right Route, and Right Documentation.
- Lift and position residents as required to administer treatment and/or medication.
- Monitor stock medication supply and prepare medication orders as scheduled.
- Document medication administration accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a working knowledge of medications administered.
- Perform assigned treatments utilizing proper procedures and techniques.
- Maintain a working knowledge of resident programs and procedures and apply them to medication/treatment tasks.
- Inform nurse on duty of medication/treatment errors discovered in a timely manner.
- Provide assistance to the shift nurse by observing resident health and safety, following directions during medical emergencies, and routine daily tasks.
- Monitor nursing inventory supply and prepare supply list for items needed; maintain and stock nursing areas during assigned shift.
- Accompany residents to medical appointments, as assigned; may drive Center vehicles for errands or transportation, if an approved driver.
- Maintain resident/client privacy and assure the confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee, and operations data in accordance with HIPAA policy and confidentiality procedures.
- Assist with the direct support of residents as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work alternate or additional shifts as assigned.
Requirements:
- Free of a conviction or prior employment history of child or resident abuse or dependent adult abuse.
- High school degree or equivalent.
- Certification as a medication aide in the state of Iowa.
