We are seeking a dedicated individual to oversee our team of Maintenance Technicians at the Housing Authority of LaSalle County.

This role is situated in a dynamic and varied environment.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in some or all of the following areas:

Essential Knowledge:
  • Best practices and procedures for property and apartment upkeep
  • Technical systems within buildings and their repair and maintenance
  • Safety protocols, including lifting and handling methods
  • Fundamentals of electrical, plumbing, painting, appliance, heating, cooling, carpentry repairs, and grounds upkeep
  • Effective communication techniques with diverse individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, both in person and via telephone
  • Modern office practices, equipment, and software applications
Key Abilities:
  • Interpret building specifications and blueprints
  • Inspire and provide clear guidance and supervision to team members
  • Make informed decisions, resolve issues, and prioritize tasks
  • Work autonomously
  • Utilize a variety of hand tools
  • Address and resolve conflicts with staff and residents
  • Apply judgment in accordance with general policy guidelines
  • Comprehend and execute oral and written instructions
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Organize, analyze, and maintain maintenance records and documentation
  • Employ computer and agency-specific software applications
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the necessary knowledge and skills is acceptable. A valid driver's license is required, and candidates must be insurable for operating agency-owned vehicles and/or provide personal transportation as necessary for job duties.
  • Three years of experience in staff management.
  • Three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, and building systems and equipment, with extensive knowledge of maintenance methods and procedures related to residential buildings and apartment units.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, with knowledge and skills acquired through educational or certified programs relevant to the specified duties and responsibilities.

On-call duties after hours will be required on a rotational basis.
