About the Role

As an Associate Engineer in our US Offshore Development business unit, you will play a key role in supporting the engineering of onshore and offshore high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems, including those for offshore wind projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support project engineering and construction, including interface with equipment suppliers, engineering consultants, and permitting consultants.
  • Perform electrical design and technical evaluations of offshore transmission projects.
  • Support project cost estimating and work across all phases of projects, including feasibility assessments, proposal write-ups, cost and pricing development, stakeholder engagement, and project permitting.
What You'll Do
  • Support workstreams responsible for conceptual design through project delivery of HVDC systems to interconnect large offshore wind farms.
  • Perform technical assessments of electric HVDC requirements, including siting and design for onshore converter stations and offshore converter platforms.
  • Support technical reports, studies, and drawings associated with HVDC systems, including considerations for the electrical and civil design of HVDC converter stations and associated HVAC equipment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025.
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025 or July 7, 2025.
  • Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy.
Location

Waltham, Massachusetts or Brooklyn, New York.

Salary range: $82,000 - $96,000 per year.
