About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral Health Specialist to join our team at the Community Counseling Center. As a Behavioral Health Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to children and adolescents in our residential treatment program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to clients in a manner that promotes safety, comfort, and a therapeutic environment based on a trauma-informed approach.
  • Teach functional living skills, such as anger management techniques, impulse control, social/communication skills, relaxation skills, and emotional coping skills, based on the client's individual treatment plan.
  • Collaborate closely with the treatment team to coordinate client care services and ensure continuity of care.
  • Complete and chart client observations in accordance with agency policy and procedure.
  • Conduct ongoing checks, including personal belongings, room checks, and grounds checks, based on agency policy and procedure.
  • Ensure protective oversight of clients, monitor their condition, and follow agency policy and procedure regarding medical emergencies or elopement.
  • Transport clients to and from appointments as needed and appropriate.
  • Intervene in behavioral health crisis situations, when needed, which may include the use of seclusion and/or restraint interventions to prevent self-harm or harm to others.
  • Document according to clinical policies and procedures, DMH, CARF, and any other federal or state program per agency standards.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma / GED / HSE Required
  • Preference will be given to those with previous mental health, healthcare, or experience working with youth
  • Must hold or obtain by start date, MO Class E Drivers License (Class D for IL Residents), and proof of continuous auto insurance. Must also meet CCC's Motor Vehicle Record standards policy and have reliable transportation.

The Community Counseling Center is a behavioral health organization that has been serving the public since 1974. We are an administrative agent for the Missouri Department of Mental Health and provide a full array of comprehensive behavioral health services within our five-county catchment area.

Our mission is to provide and support personal growth, wellness, and improved quality of life through the delivery of comprehensive behavioral health services to individuals and families residing in Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Madison, Perry, and Ste Genevieve counties in Missouri.
