Job Overview
As a Bloomingdale's Asset Protection/Loss Prevention Detective, you will play a critical role in protecting the assets and people of our stores. Our Asset Protection/Loss Prevention training program will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in this position. You will be responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism in the execution of your duties, while utilizing innovative technology and analytical skills to investigate and prevent loss.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome all customers while on the selling floor, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
- Identify, observe, and apprehend individuals suspected of shoplifting, utilizing knowledge of state laws and statutes related to shoplifting and apprehensions.
- Participate in store shortage reduction programs, working in partnership with various departments to achieve goals and objectives.
- Maintain building safety and security, opening and closing the building as necessary.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of related experience in a retail or security-related field.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of customers and peers.
- Resourceful and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Resourceful self-starter, able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Must satisfy licensing requirements (as required by state or local jurisdiction).
- Experience operating and monitoring CCTV systems.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing/walking around the store or department.
- Occasional reaching above eye level, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Ability to apprehend shoplifters.
- Sustaining long periods of time enclosed in surveillance areas.
- Frequently lifting/moving up to 30lbs.
