Justice Studies Faculty Position

The Nebraska State Colleges are seeking a highly qualified faculty member to join our Justice Studies Program. As a full-time faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching civil law, criminal law, and criminal justice coursework, as well as participating in departmental and institutional communities of learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teaching:
    • Develop and deliver engaging course materials and presentations
    • Assess student progress and provide regular feedback
    • Stay current with developments in the field and incorporate new methodologies and technologies into classes
  • Advising:
    • Provide academic guidance and support to students
    • Help students plan programs of study and achieve their academic goals
  • Professional Development:
    • Engage in scholarly and creative activities to enhance teaching and research skills
    • Participate in academic organizations and conferences related to the field
  • Service:
    • Contribute to departmental and institutional committees and initiatives
    • Participate in campus and community presentations and events
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctorate from an American Bar Association-accredited law school, and current license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
  • Or completion of at least 30 credit hours toward a doctorate in Criminal Justice with a clear focus on law and face-to-face classroom teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completed Ph.D. in Criminal Justice (or closely related terminal degree) with a clear focus on law
  • Three or more years of face-to-face teaching experience, preferably at the college level, in areas such as litigation, commercial law, public law, and especially criminal law
