Key Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, and other medical procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety.
- Collect patient histories, record vital signs, and maintain accurate electronic medical records.
- Perform patient restraint, obtain laboratory samples, and administer medications under the supervision of a veterinarian.
- Schedule appointments, provide client education, and relay test results to doctors and clients.
- Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, and assist with anesthesia and recovery.
- Perform in-hospital treatments, including giving injectable and oral medications, and maintaining patient care.
- Assist in the training of new staff members and disseminate knowledge as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe hospital environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
- 1+ year of experience working in a veterinary practice or equivalent animal care experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Compassionate and sympathetic, with the ability to maintain a professional attitude in emotional and stressful situations.
- Strong telephone and computer skills.
- Ability to work as a team player, willing to learn new techniques and treatments, and adapt to changing situations.
The majority of job duties will be conducted in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment. The position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing for long periods of time. A significant amount of time will be spent in direct contact with clients and their pets.
