Job Description

Friend Health is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Assessment Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our crisis intervention team, you will be responsible for conducting thorough psychiatric assessments of clients in need of crisis evaluations. Your expertise will help determine the most appropriate level of care for each individual, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of clients, including mental health exams, past and present psychiatric history, family history, and substance abuse history.
  • Determine the most appropriate level of care for each client, based on their clinical evaluation and eligibility.
  • Refer clients to linkage and outreach services, ensuring firm linkage with the authorized level of care.
  • Document all evaluations, recommendations, and disposition outcomes for each client.
  • Collaborate with primary referral sources, families, team members, and community agencies to provide accurate handoffs in acute situations.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related human service field.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in psychiatric emergency rooms or crisis intervention settings.
  • Strong understanding of DSM IV TR criteria for diagnosing mental health and substance abuse patients.
  • Knowledge of Community Mental Health, Rule 132, and the Department of Mental Health.
  • Ability to formulate 5-axis diagnoses and initial treatment plans.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with people.
  • Detail-oriented and flexible, with good communication skills and team relations.
