Research and Development Scientist

Catalent is a global leader in the development and manufacturing of new treatments for patients worldwide. We are seeking a highly skilled Research and Development Scientist to join our team in Manassas, Virginia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Initiate, coordinate, and implement new product initiatives on new and existing products.
  • Work with procurement, quality assurance, production, marketing, as well as suppliers and customers to effectively develop products.
  • Create product formulation, scale-up, labeling, select raw materials, and more.
  • Responsible for all documentation from ideation to product launch and product maintenance.
Requirements:
  • B.S. in Food Science, Food Engineering, or related field required.
  • 3+ years relevant experience in food preparation/food industry (preferably in the confectionary industry).
  • Demonstrated leadership in one or more of the areas of R&D or QA.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional departments within the organization.
  • Problem-solving, verbal, communication, and listening skills, excellent analytical and decision-making abilities; good presentation skills.
  • Customer Service communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
  • The employee is required to sit, climb or balance and taste or smell.
