Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to lead our team of Advanced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners. As a Lead Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, you will provide leadership and supervision to our team, oversee quality assurance, and provide psychiatric care to inmates across the state.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and supervision to a team of Advanced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners
  • Oversee quality assurance for services provided by the team
  • Identify, assess, and respond to inmates with mental health disorders and symptoms associated with drug and alcohol use
  • Care for the psychiatric needs of mentally ill offenders in-person or via telehealth
  • Prescribe Schedule II-V drugs as appropriate

Work Environment

This position is located at Anchorage Central Office, but work is also completed in correctional facilities and via telehealth. You will work closely with teams of administrative staff, correctional officers, mental health clinicians, and medical staff.

Requirements
  • Eligible for authorization to practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Alaska
  • At least one year of experience providing a full spectrum of psychiatric care
  • Leadership skills and ability to motivate and positively influence a professional team
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and ability to maintain composure during stressful situations
