Job Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant provides patient care services under the direction of a licensed physical therapist. This role is responsible for assisting with physical therapy treatment, educating patients on proper use and care of equipment, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care according to the plan of care developed by the physical therapist.
- Treats patients to relieve pain, develop or restore function, and maintain maximum performance.
- DIRECTS AND AIDS PATIENTS IN ACTIVE AND PASSIVE THERAPEUTIC EXERCISES, MUSCLE RE EDUCATION, GAIT AND FUNCTIONAL TRAINING, TRANSFER ACTIVITIES AND PROSTHETIC TRAINING.
- Observes and reports patient reactions to treatment and any changes in condition to the physical therapist.
- Instructs patients in the care and use of wheelchairs, braces, crutches, canes, prosthetic or orthotic devices.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program with an Associate's degree in science or applied science approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
- Current certification or license as required by state law.
- Possesses and maintains current CPR certification.
- Licensed driver with an automobile insured in accordance with state/or organization requirements and in good working order.
Salary and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000-$65,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include professional development opportunities, flexible scheduling, and a supportive work environment.
